Showcasing an incredible array of architectural talent and innovation from across NSW, the shortlist for 2025 NSW Architecture Awards has been unveiled.
This year’s selection of projects offers a glimpse into the diverse and impactful designs behind new homes, alterations, commercial and community buildings, and more. From transformative community hubs and cutting-edge educational facilities to thoughtfully designed homes and revitalised urban spaces, the shortlisted projects all demonstrate the profound contribution of architects to our built environment.
NSW Chapter President, Elizabeth Carpenter expressed her enthusiasm for this year’s projects: “the diversity of response and the breadth of design thinking reflected in this year’s entrants is very exciting – some of the projects are incredibly modest making an impact with little and others are multilayered and city-making.
“The shortlisted projects are a testament to the dedication, creativity, and unwavering commitment to excellence within our profession – demonstrative of the vital role architects play in shaping our communities and addressing the evolving needs of our environments.”
Shortlisted projects were selected by a rigorous judging process undertaken by a jury of industry experts. This year has been the biggest yet with more than 280 entries over 13 different categories.
Jury Chair of Chairs, Annabel Lahz commented that “as Jury Chair of Chairs I was deeply impressed by the calibre of submissions this year across the different categories. The shortlisted projects demonstrate a strong commitment to design excellence, innovation, and a clear understanding of their context and purpose.
“I was particularly encouraged by the thoughtful responses to contemporary challenges and the focus placed on creating spaces to enrich people’s everyday life whether it be their house; workplace; school; local parkland or urban environment, reminding us of the extent to which good design and architecture can improve society.”
The 2025 NSW Architecture Awards are proudly brought to you by Institute Principal Partner Dulux Australia and Awards and Corporate Partners Allegion, Alspec, Architectural Window Systems (AWS), Autodesk, BlueScope, Brickworks, Krause Bricks, and Lysaght.
