CHALLENGE
WMK was engaged to develop a new bespoke and integrated campus for NextSense located in the grounds of Macquarie University.
SOLUTION
WMK’s design response reflects the different functions of NextSense by seamlessly integrating it into two interconnected blocks that gives a physical manifestation of this multi-faceted organisation’s fundamental aim to create a networked environment.
The school and preschool incorporate learning and play areas for students with both hearing and vision loss, whist the central services building includes public areas for staff and visitors, conferencing, a business hub, and allied health and therapy facilities.
OUTCOME
NextSense at Macquarie University heralds a new era for hearing and vision loss in Australia. The campus co-locates NextSense’s national operations, health and disability services, education, and research under one roof to support and drives better outcomes for children, adults and families living with sensory disabilities.
