NINE provides a blueprint for a contemporary housing model in which residents enjoy the best of apartment living with access to natural light and aspect, along with parklands, recreational facilities and urban amenity.
It is an outstanding example of urban renewal, introducing 442 low maintenance apartments to a suburb dominated by single housing, along with publicly accessible parklands, and community facilities.
Through its respectful masterplan and architecture, in which apartments are distributed across 10 buildings of varying scale and materiality, residents are able to feel a sense of belonging to a small community within the larger community.
The built form has been carefully managed to create a progression from the low-scale street edges to the taller buildings consolidated at the centre of the site.
This approach has allowed the new community to be a good neighbour, with a scale and aesthetic sympathetic to the established Federation era streetscape.
The respectful masterplan created by CHROFI with its abundance of publicly accessible open space ensured the benefits of urban renewal were shared broadly throughout the community. By dispersing the 442 apartments across 10 buildings of varying scale and materiality, residents are able to feel a sense of belonging to a small boutique community within the larger NINE community. With a high proportion of large two bedroom and three bedroom apartments, and access to shared indoor and outdoor spaces, high density living becomes an attractive proposition for a diverse range of people, particularly families and downsizers
