Here’s some information about changes in fees and some new concessional fee options for your staff.

  • We’ve minimised fee increases in 2024 by freezing fees for sole practitioners, graduates and concessional fees, and capped fee increases at 4% for the larger practices.
  • Fees for practices with under 50 staff will see increases of between 1.5%-3%.
  • We’ve introduced a new concessional fee for those working part-time plus a new non-member category called ‘Access’ to allow those not eligible for one of the member categories to access online resources needed for the performance of their role.

  • Position within the practice

Eligible staff includes all registered architects, graduates of architecture and allied professionals with a qualification in a built environment related discipline. This includes interior designers, planners, urban designers, landscape architects and the like.

Permanent staff working more than 3 days per week or more in the practice should be invited to enrol. Casual staff are not required to be included (but are welcome).

Concessional fees are available and can be applied for via the practice’s member list if the practice would like to invite staff who:

  • Work 0.4FTE or less, or,
  • Have reduced hours to care for children under five, or,
  • Have reduced hours to complete post-graduate studies.

Students already enrolled as Institute SONA members may also be included if they are working in the practice however no additional fees are charged for their inclusion.

From 2024, staff of practice members who do not meet membership eligibility can access A+ resources by creating an account in the Access category. You can invite staff to join with this category like you would any other member. It is important to note that an Access account does not provide membership to that individual and is for access to online resources only (including Australian Standards).
