A message from Lisa King

It’s been a big few weeks for the NSW Chapter, with lots of exciting events and changes happening both within the Chapter and in industry.

As many of you would be aware, NSW Chapter President Adam Haddow has been recently elected as 2024-25 National President Elect. This means the NSW Chapter will undergo a by-election for the role of NSW Chapter President to serve for the remainder of the current term, which concludes at the February 2025 Chapter Council meeting.

There has never been a more critical time for an expert member to step into this role and we look forward to working with and supporting the successful nominee. Please consider bringing your expertise to this position and representing our membership at the highest level, you can find information on how to nominate your preference via this link.

Of course, excitement is building for our NSW Chapter Awards, which are fast approaching on 28 June. If you haven’t already registered to attend, please do so now, this showcase event is always a sellout so be quick!

Staying with events, our recent Design and Construct: Lessons Learnt webinar was well received. We were very grateful to have a panel with such expertise available to speak with our members on this topic and look forward to hosting further CPD sessions later on in the year.

In industry news, the Building Commission NSW held a roundtable of all key stakeholders last week to discuss where they are at and where they are heading in the battle to rebuild consumer trust in our industry. It was terrific to hear from HIA, EA, QIBS and from developers and to share experiences on how we can continue to work better together.

It was also terrific to catch up with some of our Illawarra members at the recent Property Council meet and greet. Watch this space, we are looking forward to another chance to meet with our members on the South Coast soon!

For those of you who missed last month’s update, the NSW Chapter is pleased to welcome Michael Woodhams to our Sydney office. Michael takes up the role of Policy and Advocacy Manager with a clear focus on NSW and brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge.

Finally, thank you to all those members who have sent in applications to become part of our NSW Chapter Committees. We are so excited to work with you all and thrilled to see such a diverse range of members getting involved. There are always other ways you can work with us here at the NSW Chapter even if you do not have the capacity to become a Committee member or take on a leadership role. Please reach out to us any time to find out more.
