NSW Architecture Awards 2021 shortlist announced

The top entrants for the state’s most celebrated architectural honours have been announced today, with the juries for the 2021 NSW Architecture Awards, led by Chair of Juries Peter Mould, releasing the shortlist.

The shortlist follows an intensive schedule of presentations and juries will now undertake a rigorous peer review of 126 entries across 12 categories. These projects will also compete for the prestigious NSW Architecture Medallion.

NSW Chapter President Laura Cockburn said this year’s awards program attracted a wide range of entries from public, educational and cultural architecture to commercial buildings, individual residences to high density living, and sustainable design.

‘Architecture’s role in creating spaces that reflect and celebrate community and build strength and resilience into the future has been demonstrated over the course of the past year,’ Ms Cockburn said.

‘In a time of so much change and disruption to daily life, the creativity and quality of design across NSW is a credit to our industry colleagues and the collaborative efforts that have brought each project to life.’

Winners in each category will be announced via a virtual livestream event on Friday 2 July on the Institute’s YouTube channel. These projects will progress to be considered by the National Jury for the National Architecture Awards later this year.

Chair of Juries, Peter Mould, congratulated the shortlisted entrants and thanked the juries for their contribution.

‘Our jurors have been generous in their time and knowledge, and we are grateful for their contribution in acknowledging and reviewing so many excellent projects that continue to advance design excellence in our communities,’ Mr Mould said.
