As we wrap up our local awards season, it is opportune to wish our nationally shortlisted projects all the best as they move forward. On behalf of the Tasmanian Chapter, I would like to congratulate all those Tasmanian projects that have been shortlisted nationally.

Congratulations go to our members who entered and were awarded in the Tasmanian Architecture Awards. Your contribution to society through good design is an enduring legacy to this special island.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the jury, Sarah Lindsay (jury chair), Hannah Webber, John Padas, Sam Perversi-Brooks and Kirsha Kaechele for their considered deliberations.
To all of the contributors to our local program, the awards creative directors Kelsie Youd, Rosie Shield and Felix Blackman who delivered an inspired experience in beautiful Launceston, reminding us all, that sense of place is a cornerstone of architecture and that the creation of a strong design community sets us all up to thrive and create wonderful places, spaces and communities, that benefit all Tasmanians.
They were not alone, such inventiveness has been continually supported by the awards committee Fred Ward, Rachel Licht, Cath Williams, Gaetano Palmese, Nina Hamilton, Matt Sansom and David Button. Who not only guide our program but also setup PA systems, serve drinks and hang awards panels and year in year out, support the delivery of the inspired program.
But none of this would exist without the members who entered projects, the standard of work was high, indicated in the large number of Tasmanian shortlisted projects nationally. Your engagement in the process and commitment to the profession is commendable.
Our sincere thanks go to our loyal and trusted partners, whose unwavering support enables the program to flourish and continue to advocate the value of architecture and the contribution it makes to society through the Sunday Tasmanian insert and television and social media promotion.
Our National President Adam Haddow summed it up well when he said
“It was a genuine pleasure to attend and celebrate the outstanding work being produced across Tasmania. The calibre of projects recognised on the night speaks volumes about the talent, creativity and commitment of the local profession; work that not only raises the bar for architectural excellence but also enriches communities and landscapes across the state.”
