The Village Preschool is designed become part of the community, to be a space for independent children to fill with life, colour, and joy, and for the building itself to act as teacher.
Carter Williamson considered and celebrated the pre-schools vision and philosophy. The building was designed to be an additional teacher where children could learn about scale, materials, shape and light in a thoughtful, imaginative and timeless manner. Each detail in the design was considered through this lens.
The innovative design creates moments of awe and wonder in children, whilst connecting them to the outside world, as they can see and engage with the garden or sky from different vantage points. Intimate and larger spaces were created to foster children’s relationships with their peers, family and educators.
