Queen’s Birthday Honours List 2021

Four Life Fellows of the Australian Institute of Architects, including former National President Professor Shelley Penn, have been recognised in this year’s Queen’s Honours List for their significant service to architecture.

Joining Professor Penn AM LFRAIA in being appointed a Member in the General Division (AM) of the Order of Australia are Mr Charles Justin AM LFRAIA, Mr Nonda Katsalidis AM FRAIA and Ms Lolita Veronica Mohyla AM LFRAIA.

Mr Colin Cala OAM RAIA and Mr Roger Poole OAM LFRAIA RIBA MAPI were awarded a medal in the General Division (OAM).

Institute CEO Julia Cambage congratulated recipients of this most distinguished honour on behalf of members.

“Architecture is a powerful force in our society, shaping how we experience the world around us,” Ms Cambage said.

“Architects’ capacity to deliver enduring value to communities around our country is immeasurable.

“We are delighted to see the outstanding contribution of our members further recognised with the awarding of this highest of honours and offer our most heartfelt congratulations to all recipients.”

Ms Cambage also paid tribute to colleague and close Institute partner, Dr Bronwyn Joy Evans AM FTSE, CEO of Engineers Australia who was awarded for her “significant service to engineering, to standards, and to medical technology.”
