The Practice Committee continues to monitor issues affecting day-to-day practice in Queensland, including concerns relating to Queensland Government contracts and the evolving discussion around WaterMark. This work is focused on identifying where current arrangements create unnecessary risk, complexity or administrative burden for practices, and where clearer guidance and stronger advocacy may be needed.
WaterMark transition update
Members are advised that the transition period for existing WaterMark certified products has been extended to 1 May 2028, providing additional time for industry transition to lead free compliant products. Queensland Government contracts update
Members involved in Queensland Government work may wish to review the updated BCM standard contracts, particularly where they are advising on procurement, administering contracts or managing project risk. The replacement contracts include changes across a range of areas including security, insurance, notices, subcontracting, variations, payment processes, claims and dispute resolution. Members seeking further information may contact the Queensland Government at contract.services@hpw.qld.gov.au for guidance on the standard BCM templates and to receive notification of template updates.
