New Regional Co-Chair for Darling Downs and West Moreton

We’re thrilled to welcome Michael Fleming as the new Regional Co-Chair for the Darling Downs and West Moreton region, joining current Co-Chair Stephen Sims in championing the voice of regional architecture in the region.

Michael brings a decade of experience in regional practice, having delivered projects from Rockhampton to Barkly to Pallamallawa. His work across remote and diverse climate zones has given him deep insight into the challenges and opportunities of designing and building in the regions. Passionate about bringing the benefits of good design to regional communities and fostering local design talent, Michael is a powerful advocate for architecture that is responsive, inclusive and place-based.

We also take this opportunity to express our heartfelt thanks to Chris Gay, who is stepping down after an extraordinary 14 years as Regional Co-Chair in the Darling Downs and West Moreton region. Chris has been a dedicated and generous leader, and we are incredibly grateful for the time, energy and wisdom he has shared with the profession, the Institute and the Darling Downs and West Moreton community. Thank you, Chris!

And a sincere thank you to Stephen Sims for his ongoing commitment to the region and for continuing to provide steady and thoughtful leadership as Co-Chair alongside Michael.

Our regional chairs are critical to having a strong regional voice, and we could not do this work without their continued engagement.
