On Friday, 14 March 2025, the Queensland Chapter hosted the 2025 Queensland Chapter International Women’s Day, uniting Queensland architects, clients, colleagues, friends and family under the theme ‘March Forward’ to celebrate progress and push for lasting change.
Since 1995, women have broken barriers, reshaped policies, and ignited powerful movements worldwide. Yet, despite these strides, systemic inequalities, rising violence, and economic disparities continue to hinder millions of women and girls from reaching their full potential.
We were honoured share a video message from the Minister for Women and Women’s Economic Security, Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships and Minister for Multiculturalism, Fiona Simpson MP, along with the calls to action on equality from Chapter President, Caroline Stalker, and our three speakers: Leah Lang, Queensland Government Architect, Birdy Bird, CEO of The Land Back Foundation and Daniela Silva, Founder of ArLA (Arquitectas Latinas). After the thought provoking presentations and insightful panel discussion, the room was buzzing with inspired reflections and ideas of how we might drive the momentum forward.
Thank you to and to event partners Lysaght, Equitone, ACE Stone and Tiles, and in-kind partners Leif and Bond University. For others wishing to enroll in the micro credential Women in Leadership that one lucky door prize winner was gifted, more information can be found here.
