Dear NT members
Well in Darwin we are out of lockdown for the second time in two months but thankfully everyone is safe, getting vaccinated and following the rules.
We are currently working a policy review of the planning guideline for remote housing and we are also seeking some input to be part of the content review panel for the Institutes Acumen practice notes.
On the Acumen notes the most feedback is that often these notes do not pick up nuances of the NT so this is your chance to positively contribute to this. Please directly email Belinda Strickland on belinda.strickland@architecture.com.au with your EOI however please CC the NT office as well.
As we have mentioned before we are starting a housing project focussing on remote and government housing. Our first project is to review and provide feedback on the 2016 remote planning guidelines which are due for revision. We have met with the department and have committed to providing this feedback beforehand so we will submit our revision before the end of September. Having an early review by Architects means that we are inputting into the review and not just responding to policy changes. If you would like to be part of the review, please email me directly and I will send you the link to the document. As mentioned, we want this to be collated and submitted by the end of September so there is a relatively short timeframe.
We have a few events coming up over the next couple of months firstly we are putting together an October Business Month dinner in partnership with Engineers Australia and the Design Institute of Australia. We will have registrations set up for this asap and we will send the invite with the link to you directly to register. We are also planning our end of year function which will also be a partnership with other professional bodies in the built environment sector. Note this event will have limited numbers so you need to book early so watch this space.
