From the National President

Feb 16

Get out those diaries and clear your schedule for the National Architecture Conference – Risk!

The full speaker line up has just been revealed and includes Caroline Bos (UNStudio (Netherlands)), Kasper Jensen (3XN (Denmark)), Jeremy Till (UK), Camilla Block (Durbach, Block, Jaggers (Aus)), Hannah Tribe (Tribe Studio (Aus)) and Gregg Pasquarelli (SHoP (USA)). Peruse the line up here.

Also, there are some fantastic sessions planned. One of the highlights has got to be Dialogue, featuring a wealth of Australian architectural talent.

Dialogue sessions feature two Australian architects, presenting a single project each, chosen to highlight an aspect of risk taken. After presentations a short discussion will include the participation of one of the international speakers. Dialogue is a dedicated moment in the conference to reflect on local conditions, and to enrich the dialogue between Australian architects and architects from around the world: a global discussion on risk and innovation.

Risk is held at Melbourne Convention Centre from 16 to 18 May. Explore the program here.

As if that wasn’t enough to be getting on with, in July, we are presenting the Australasian Student Architecture Congress – People, also in Melbourne. Creative Directors Mercedes Mambort, Tim Randall and Darcy Zelenko have a great program planned.

Speakers confirmed include Laurent Gutierrez (Hong Kong), Anna Rubbo (USA), Steve Larkin, (Ireland), Sandra Manninger (USA) and Veronika Valk (Estonia).

The Congress is open to all (even non-students). Check the website for more information.

For those of you wanting to attend both events – there is a great offer available. Receive a $50 discount off your combined ticket price if you purchase both congress and conference registration. For more information visit architecture.com.au/register.

Happy planning!

Kind regards,

David Karotkin.
