Call for expressions of interest: new committee members
The Australian Institute of Architects WA Chapter is seeking three (3) Editorial Panel members to work alongside Emma Adams as Managing Editor and Jonathan Speer as Editor for the upcoming issue of The Architect magazine to be produced in 2024. We welcome diverse representation on the Panel and invite expressions of interest from all Institute members, including A+ Practice members, EmAGN and SONA.
To ensure diverse representation on the Panel, we particularly invite nominations from EmAGN and SONA members.
We are looking for new Panel members who are passionate about The Architect magazine, first published in 1939, who want to contribute to this important instrument of advocacy for the WA architecture community.
In joining the Panel, you will actively participate in developing and delivering content for The Architect by:
- ESTABLISHING THE PRIMARY FOCUS OF THE ISSUE: Developing, with the other Panel members, the direction of each issue of the magazine.
- RECRUIT CONTRIBUTORS: Ascertain who will write each of the stories and who will contribute the opinion pieces.
- SHORTLIST PROJECTS: Review potential projects for inclusion that will align with the focus of the issue.
COMMITMENT
The members of this Panel will convene after the 2024 Awards in June to attend a digital, and in person, strategy session to discuss the focus of the next issue and review the timetable for delivering the magazine. The Panel will meet weekly to review progress with communications predominantly via email and Microsoft Teams.
Obligations
Panel members are expected to be active participants, conduct themselves and participate in an accountable and professional manner, as per the Institute’s Code of Conduct.
Suitability
Panel members must be members of the Australian Institute of Architects.
EOI PROCESS – HOW TO APPLY
Submission requirements:
- One-page EOI cover letter which explains your interest in joining the Panel, details your suitability, demonstrates your capacity to meet the commitments and obligations.
- CV (maximum 3 pages) which demonstrates your relevant knowledge, training, and experience and how you may add value to the Panel’s outcomes.
- Submit the EOI and CV as a single document to jonathan.speer@architecture.com.au. Nominations close Friday, 7 June 2024 with all applicants notified by 14 June.
