introduction
Expressions of Interest are being sought from members who wish to represent the Australian Institute of Architects (the Institute) on a Commonwealth Association of Architects (CAA) working group related to the multi-nation MOU recently signed by the Institute.
About the role
The Institute representative will contribute to the CAA and the multi-nation MOU through their position on the working group. The Institute representative is required to attend online CAA meetings. Background
The Institute recently signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) authorised by the CAA. The agreement has been signed by ten member countries of the CAA representing national architecture professional bodies in Commonwealth countries across five continents.
The objective of the MOU is to establish a framework for the signatories to work together in a coordinated and mutually beneficial manner with the goal of increasing the capacity of urban stakeholders in Commonwealth countries, particularly those that are facing the most urgent challenges to cope with rapid urbanisation and climate change.
Activities will include collaboration to develop capacity in areas including policy and legislation, learning and development, and urban planning and design. It will aim to increase professional competency and climate literacy in sustainable urbanisation and climate action.
The CAA working group’s overarching role is to pursue the goals set out by the MOU. Further information on the MOU can be found here.
