EmAGN representative on International Chapter Council EOIs sought

The Australian Institute of Architects is seeking to appoint an EmAGN representative to join the International Chapter Council. This is a unique opportunity to influence the direction of the International Chapter and ensure the voices of emerging architects and graduates are heard. It is also an opportunity to develop your leadership skills, build international networks, and represent your peers on a global stage.

About the International Chapter
The International Chapter of the Australian Institute of Architects represents built environment professionals who live and work outside Australia. With a focus on maintaining strong connections to the architectural profession in Australia, the Chapter plays an important role in supporting its members.

About EmAGN 
The Emerging Architects and Graduate Network (EmAGN) is a membership demographic of the Australian Institute of Architects. EmAGN represents Australian Institute of Architects members within 15 years of graduating with an accredited qualification in Architecture (Master of Architecture or equivalent).

Our vision: To create an engaged and supportive community of emerging architects and graduates. We aim to champion good architecture for the benefit of all.

Our purpose: To advocate for the interests of emerging architectural professionals, support their professional development, and engage with local communities.

The Role of the EmAGN Representative on the International Chapter Council

The EmAGN representative will serve as a bridge between the National EmAGN committee based in Australia and the broader international architectural community. The representative will contribute by:

  • Advocating for the interests of emerging architects and graduates on the International Chapter Council
  • Collaborating with the EmAGN committee based in Australia and other international chapter Councillors to develop initiatives that support emerging architects and graduate members internationally
  • Champion initiatives aimed at emerging architects and graduates within the international community like the Emerging Architect Prize and seek new opportunities to enhance recognition
  • Contribute to International Council meetings, ensuring the perspectives of emerging architects and graduates are considered

Eligibility

  • For the duration of the role be a financial member of the Australian Institute of Architects
  • For the duration of the role be within 15 years of graduation from an accredited qualification in Architecture (Master of Architecture or equivalent), representing the EmAGN demographic
  • For the duration of the role be living and working outside Australia

Commitment

  • Tenure: 1 year
  • Available to attend and participate in International Chapter Council meetings – the annual meeting schedule is to be agreed between the committee and national staff and includes 12 meetings per year.
