Edward Chan is recognised for his distinguished contribution to architectural leadership, project delivery and sustainability across nearly three decades of professional practice in Asia and internationally.
With 29 years in the profession, Edward has consistently demonstrated leadership, design rigour and a commitment to advancing sustainable outcomes in complex built-environment projects. His career reflects a deep understanding of architecture’s capacity to shape high-performing, social responsive and commercially viable developments at significant scale.
In his recent role as Assistant Senior Vice President and Client’s Representative, Edward has led multidisciplinary teams across landmark integrated resort developments. Entrusted with oversight of major projects. He has successfully coordinated internal teams, international consultants and contractors with highly complex design and construction environments.
His advocacy for sustainable design was equally impactful, championing the adoption of low-VOC materials to enhance indoor air quality and contributing to the project’s achievement of LEED v4 Gold certification for Interior Design and Construction. Under his leadership, the project received the UHPC Innovative Design and Structural Award, recognising the collaborative delivery of advanced structural solutions and the integration of innovative building technologies. These achievements reflect Edward’s ability to balance ambition, sustainability and technical excellence within demanding delivery frameworks.
Notably, he also played a key role in leading the project teams for the super high-rise project, the CTF Finance Centre in China, which was recognised as the Best Commercial Development at the China Property Awards in 2015.
Earlier in his career, Edward played a key role in the design and administration of significant public and community projects. These included a middle-income housing development for the Hong Kong Hosing Society incorporating an elderly centre, as well as civic facilities delivered for the Hong Kong Architectural Services Department. Through these works, he contributed meaningfully to housing provision and essential community infrastructure.
Across his career, Edward has demonstrated comprehensive expertise in managing complex stakeholder environments, delivering large-scale projects and embedding sustainable practices within commercial realities. His leadership, professional integrity and dedication to design excellence exemplify the values of the Australian Institute of Architects.
