The Australian Institute of Architects is a member of the Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB) Building Codes Committee (BCC). Eric Martin LFRAIA is the Institute representative who sits on the BCC.
The ABCB regularly circulates a number of proposals for consideration of the BCC which relate to:
- Changes to standards referenced in the National Construction Code(NCC)
- Proposals to change sections in NCC, and
- Draft information documents and guidance notes for review.
The Institute BCC representative has a small reference group who are provided with any proposal from the ABCB for their consideration and comment. From the comments provided, the Institute provides a response to the ABCB.
For major issues affecting architects the Institute usually seeks a wider input from members, the National Practice Committee and the National Enabling Architecture Committee.
The Reference Group needs to provide comments where appropriate and in their area of expertise and interest.
We are currently recruiting additional members for the BCC reference group.
If you are interested in being a member of the BCC reference group please contact our Institute’s National Advocacy and Policy Manager, Paul Zanatta via paul.zanatta@architecture.com.au.
We would like to hear from interested members by Friday, 17 March. We will then contact people with a short form to obtain some further information to assist the recruitment.
