Dr Kali Marnane has been awarded 2025 Queensland Emerging Architect Prize.
The Australian Institute of Architects is pleased to announce that Dr Kali Marnane, Associate Director at Urbis, has been awarded the 2025 Queensland Emerging Architect Prize.
This annual prize recognises an emerging architect who has made an exceptional contribution to the profession and the wider community in the early stages of their career. The jury commended Dr Marnane for her generous, selfless approach to research and community work, and her tireless advocacy for underrepresented groups.
In her practice and academic roles, Dr Marnane has helped educate and empower the next generation of architects, showing how thoughtful design and research can support more inclusive and resilient communities.
Each year, state and territory prize recipients are considered for the National Emerging Architect Prize, one of the profession’s most respected honours for early-career architects, to be announced at the National Architecture Awards later this year.
Queensland Executive Director, Anna Svensdotter, said: “Kali stands out not only for her design and research achievements, but for her deep commitment to sharing knowledge and uplifting community voices. She represents the kind of leadership our profession needs.”.
“Architecture is a profession that demands long years of training, study and mentorship. Recognising emerging leaders like Kali early in their careers is critical—not only to celebrate their achievements but to encourage the broader contribution they are yet to make to our communities, cities and culture.” Svensdotter said.
The Queensland Chapter congratulates Dr Marnane on this well-deserved recognition and wishes her every success as she progresses to national judging.
