Australian Architects Abroad: 2025 International Chapter Awards Celebrate Global Design Leadership

The Australian Institute of Architects has announced the winners of the 2025 International Chapter Architecture Awards, presented in Osaka, at the Australia Pavilion at Expo 2025, on 12 July. The annual awards honour Australian architects working abroad and the enduring influence of Australian design values on projects across the globe.
From remote cultural centres in Southeast Asia to sensitive heritage transformations in Europe and landmark civic buildings in the Middle East, this year’s awarded projects exemplify how architecture can shape culture, community and country wherever it lands.
Jury Chair, Wei Jien Ito, said, “We have been encouraged by this year’s award entries with their various challenges based on unique cultural, geographical and environmental circumstances. The various methodologies applied in many of these projects have translated into unique architecture that is also inherently Australian in their integrity of material, form and detail.”
Now in its 17th year, the International Chapter Awards program recognises the strength of Australian architectural education and practice, and the influence of our design culture beyond national borders. The awarded projects reflect a commitment to place-sensitive design, environmental stewardship and social impact.
