It was an honour to join the event to celebrate this year’s International Chapter Architecture Awards, held in the Australia Pavilion at Expo 2025 in Osaka.
Our international members are engaged in some of the most complex, challenging, and inspiring contexts around the world, from historic cities to rapidly evolving urban landscapes. What unites us is a shared ethos: a deep respect for people, places, and the environment; clarity in design thinking; and a commitment to architecture that responds meaningfully to its context and the people it serves.
We celebrate not only design excellence but also the spirit of Australian architects working internationally, who are dedicated to fostering cultural connections and motivated to promote cross-cultural understanding of people and place.
These awards showcase many aspects of that spirit. They reflect the importance of Australian design sensibility in a global context, where cultural intelligence, sustainability, and social impact are more crucial than ever in the changing world we live in today and in our response as global citizens.
To all our entrants and award recipients: thank you for your work and for maintaining high standards as Australian Architects. You remind us that Australian architecture has a voice that resonates well beyond our shores.
