A new kind of Urban College in Adelaide’s CBD, Yugo Adelaide City, a Global Student Accommodation development, is an exemplary project that prioritises the life and learning of its students. The 35-storey tower provides accommodation for more than 700 students, with several communal spaces including a cinema, multi-media rooms, lounges, kitchens and social dining spaces. Positioned on North Terrace required the building to sit amongst varying architectural styles to seek a civic scale and presence to blend comfortably in the streetscape. Built using 700 load-bearing precast columns, Yugo Adelaide City is one of the tallest buildings of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere and the advantages of its structure and prefabrication design approach means the entire interior of the tower can be reconfigured in the future for different use. The facade, produced using an innovative 3D printing technique, deflects sunlight off the tower’s exterior, reducing heat gain within the building.
GSA are passionate about creating spaces that deliver an exceptional experience for students during their time at university. We achieve this by working with partners who share our vision and understand our students. The design of Yugo Adelaide City was carefully considered to ensure students feel connected and safe, with spaces to study, socialise, and live in. The design of the space allows our operating partner, Yugo, to provide a holistic approach to supporting our students, with a focus on sustainable lifestyles, being part of a balanced and inclusive community, and the facilitation of tailored training programs, workshops and internships.
