The multi-purpose hall is thoughtfully designed to respond to its site, setting, and users. Its material palette reflects the school’s leafy surroundings while incorporating hardy materials that balance visual cohesion with environmental responsibility. Equitable access is prioritised through minimal stairs and seamlessly integrated ramps, ensuring ease of movement throughout. Set on a sloping site, the design leverages natural grading to provide cost-effective tiered seating and storage, while preserving a significant existing tree that anchors a breakout space and strengthens the connection to nature. Passive design principles underpin the hall’s performance, with careful orientation, translucent façade panels, and operable high- and low-level louvres delivering abundant natural light and effective cross-ventilation for a bright, comfortable interior.
