The VSBA New Schools 2022 – Bundle B project consists of three brand new schools on greenfield sites in Melbourne’s new growth residential suburbs: Clyde Creek Primary School, Clyde Secondary College and Greenvale Secondary College. Architects McBride Charles Ryan in association with Kerstin Thompson Architects, have successfully collaborated to bring a richness to the Bundle approach that is playful and joyous. The school sites have been master planned and fully designed, with the Secondary Colleges built to Stage 1. Applying a thoughtful approach to the template design brief, the project balances efficiencies with site specificity, whilst elevating sustainable design.
Seeking to achieve a site responsive urban design with a clear street presence, each of the campuses are designed as a cluster of buildings forming a central ‘civic heart’ – the focal gathering, outdoor learning and play spaces – creating a sense of scale and enclosure, protection and belonging in the new schools.
The buildings and available spaces, as well as the landscape design centred around our civic heart really connect our school as a community. The specialist classroom spaces and our beautiful library are so inviting, vibrant and conducive to building a commitment to learning, participation and engagement.
