Media summary

Idyllically located in a Sunshine Coast hamlet between nature reserves, Currimundi Creek and the surf beach, Veil + Co. House is a subtropical, multigenerational “co”-living residence that reimagines the traditional Queenslander for contemporary living.

Designed to accommodate extended family and flexible work-from-home arrangements, it balances privacy and connection across three volumes — the main residence, secondary dwelling and double garage — linked by a linear covered walkway forming the site’s central spine.

A cohesive visual language of vertical battens, weatherboard and standing seam metal cladding in soft white tones unifies the built forms, while burnished concrete floors provide thermal mass and ground the architectural design.

The defining feature, a finely resolved offset “veil” wrapping the main dwelling’s second storey, offers environmental performance and aesthetic impact, moderates solar heat, enhances privacy, encourages ventilation and casts dynamic shadows.

Veil + Co. House exemplifies how thoughtful, functional architecture can support flexible, multigenerational coastal living.

Our new home is beautiful, thoughtfully designed and completely functional. There are so many stunning features, including gorgeous timber panelling and multiple little spaces to sit in which provide glimpses of the sky and trees.

One of the special features is the aluminium screen which wraps around the outside of the house. It fulfils multiple functions including: shade protection from the sun, privacy and it protects the house in all weather. The house has been designed around the way we live with features that make living easy and we couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome.
