Media summary

This project was designed as a series of pavilions within a landscape, emanating from a 1930s two storey cream brick house.  The thematic dark timber lining of the original house is continued into the ante-space which mediates between the original house and the main pavilion accommodating the living, kitchen, butler’s pantry, and laundry with a gymnasium and walled roof garden over.   The ante-space is fully lined in dark oak and illuminated by a large brass oculus.  The second pavilion houses the dining room and is defined by a copse of expressed concrete columns culminating in an overhead concrete lattice, glazed to the sky. Glazed links tie the pavilions together with a concrete bridge also reaching back from the roof garden to an extended main house.  A young garden wraps around the enclosed spaces providing a myriad of perspectives and aspects to enjoy as the garden matures.
