Health One is a concept created by NSW Health to combine Commonwealth-funded general practice and state-funded primary and community health care services. Developed by the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Network Ulladulla Health One provides general and specialist consultation spaces and dental surgery rooms to serve the local community.
The site has two street frontages on the corner lot. The architectural response was to address them differently but maintain a connection and to celebrate the site’s prominent location on the main road with views out over the harbour. The combination of materials and rhythmic forms grows naturally from the site and enlivens the main street of this regional town.
Efficiency of spaces as well as careful material selection achieved the best possible value for money.
Ulladulla Health One has become a landmark for the local community and has resulted in increased engagement and relationships with positive health outcomes for the general community.
The facility in the centre of Ulladulla has become a landmark for the area changing the streetscape.
It was built to improve client access to integrated community services for a holistic care management.
The centre provides access to a multitude of health services from mental health, drug and alcohol, dental and family.
Thefacility which is welcoming and inviting so that the community are happy to attend for their health needs and be educated, preventing the need to be treated in Hospitals.
Other benefits have been the significant improvement of engagement and relationships with the local community.Client perspective
