Media summary

Tender is a third place – an architecturally designed, acoustically treated space fitted with a pair of Pitt & Giblin speakers that feature in their movement, wellbeing and music events.

The main entry is via a laneway, activating the laneway at a pedestrian scale and encouraging engagement of a less dominant public realm.

The exposure of the existing building fabric is utilised to enhance the acoustic performance of the space and minimise additional materials and cost.

Acoustic timber and fabric panelling, alongside reclaimed timber use consistently throughout, provide warmth and acoustic properties while reinforcing sustainable practices. Low lighting levels and warm materiality encourage an internal ear, supporting the activities practiced within the space.

The organisation of program and use of materials are resolved to facilitate a cost-effective, socially and environmentally responsible space that responds to the needs of the community.
