Straddie Brewing Co is a 3-storey mixed use brewery, Taproom/ restaurant and roof top bar with a single unit accommodation at Dunwich, North Stradbroke Island.
The building’s location welcomes people to Dunwich as it overlooks the main jetty and ferry terminal for the Island.
The design is a low impact, lightweight building taking advantage of the location and views and sympathetic to the natural and built environment of Dunwich.
The project is a focal point for the people of Dunwich, a meeting place and function area, to enjoy food, drink, views of Moreton Bay and local performances.
Large glass facades enable locals to look into the everyday functioning of the brewery. The openable glass panels also enable patrons in the brewery to look out onto the unique views from the site and allow for passive cooling removing the requirement of air-conditioning.
Steven addressed our brief with professionalism and creativity, with a design that reimagined what a working craft brewery could look like.
Visitors to our venue are continually wowed by the panoramic views from the rooftop bar and the expansive natural light that pours in through both the brewery and taproom windows. The void design allows people to feel part of the brewhouse.
It has been a dream come true for us as we saw our ideas take shape. We look forward to contributing to the Dunwich community for years to come and steven has done a wonderful job.
