The Stock Hotel renovation explored ways to engage with the mix and dynamic of the patronage and to foster an accessible and dynamic community space. The architecture draws from the surrounding rural structures, creating a modern country pub successfully remaining a much-loved space by existing patrons and bringing new clientele from workers to weekend weddings.
The strategy to open the front and rear of the pub creates a strong engagement to the street and stock auction yards and improved amenity to the interior spaces. It also facilitated a robust yet refined garden bar that can withstand the lunch-time-steel-cap-rush.
The renovation required more than a face lift, as the external areas were neglected and lacked connection with the bar and live music stage. I saw KIN as a dynamic team who could deliver a functional, well designed pub which would attract a new crowd, while keeping the familiar regulars comfortable. It was critical for the pub to remain in operation during construction and KIN were able to successfully deliver on a multi stage project.
KIN understood the mix and dynamic of the patrons to deliver on a great design which has been successful for my business.
