Western Australia
In partnership with DevelopmentWA, Gresley Abas has delivered a research-led, innovative demonstration housing model at Salt Lane in the Shoreline development. This excellent design outcome grew from the need to address the ‘missing middle’ in the Western Australian housing market.
Seeking pathways to deliver high amenity, environmentally responsive, affordable homes with a sense of place, the Salt Lane at Shoreline project has been an invaluable opportunity for Gresley Abas to collaborate with DevelopmentWA to lead the way for responsible development. Salt Lane exploits every opportunity to create community connection, comfort, well-being, and efficiency with an affordable architectural product.
The Salt Lane precinct at Shoreline has been designed as a demonstration housing project for medium-density infill. The aim is to provide an exemplar and demonstrate to industry and the general public how well-designed compact housing can provide an affordable option without compromising on amenity and liveability.
The houses support a range of affordable lifestyle choices including working from home and shared occupancy as well as family living. Clever, efficient use of space ensures adequate storage and flexible uses whilst the climate-responsive design provides optimum daylight and cross ventilation which helps to keep running costs low.
