A multi-generational family weekender caught between the bush and the beach, Rockpool creates a robust, refined and always relaxed home that nestles and cascades down its costal hillside. Solid forms that capture voids feature low-carbon board off-form concrete that plays with texture and expressing ever changing light. The incredible location allows for such intimate connections to earth, sky and sea, so that the interior spaces seamlessly connect to planting and covered terraces protecting from coastal winds. A simple and constrained palette is used in varying scales and rhythms to create a sense of richness and detail, ensuring a care-free and casual lifestyle. With many communal and private spaces, Rockpool encourages bringing a large family together, to celebrate each other and cerate coastal lifestyle memories.
Rockpool is a custom-built contemporary home for our family, built to take advantage of a superb location on Avoca Beach. Ourselves and each of our four married and partnered children enjoy generous bedrooms with ensuites. The grandchildren share a generous bunk room and rumpus room. The kitchen, living and dining floor is supported by three separate outdoor spaces, all sharing the magnificent view of the beach. A pool, spa, sauna and ice bath compliment the many hours spent on beautiful Avoca Beach. The wine cellar makes a good evening a certainty.
