Media summary

In Adelaide’s historic Poets Corner, this residence is as enduring as the words of the poets it honours. Constructed of in-situ concrete, timber and steel, its materiality is timeless and its presence uncompromising. Like the verses etched into the surrounding street names, the home is built to endure, a living poem of strength, form and permanence.

Designed as a bespoke family home, the project honours the client’s lifetime contribution to Adelaide’s concrete construction industry through a refined architectural language that balances raw industrial expression with warm, tactile materials. Nestled into the site’s natural topography, the restrained built form reduces visual bulk, responding respectfully to the predominantly single-storey context. Reflective glazing mirrors native trees, allowing landscape and architecture to intertwine. Natural light is carefully choreographed throughout, animating interior spaces. Passive solar design, thermal mass, hydronic systems and photovoltaic energy underpin a sustainable, resilient home crafted for contemporary living and long-term adaptability.

I was drawn to THINK for their innovative design approach and clear presentation. From our first meeting, my brief was quickly understood and the design developed with ease and confidence. The completed home has significantly enhanced the way I live, with intuitive, flexible spaces that support both daily routines and moments of retreat. Complex planning and approvals were handled proactively, and the detailed documentation made construction straightforward for the builder. Adam and his team were consistently available. THINK provided the canvas and contributed to the success of the project winning the HIA SA (2025)  – Custom Built Home over $2million award.
