The Playford Health Hub is a specialist healthcare facility in Adelaide’s northern suburbs, delivering integrated cancer care, diagnostics and allied health services under one roof. Designed by Woods Bagot, the project responds to mounting pressure on the public health system by improving access to advanced private healthcare closer to home. Integrating a patient-centric approach to design, the facility is grounded in biophilic principles, with abundant natural light, views to landscape and a strong connection to Country. Drawing inspiration from the adjacent nature reserve, the building’s façade references native eucalypt bark and local red earth tones, embedding the architecture within its natural context. Flexible floorplates, a light-filled central atrium and an open-air staff roof terrace support adaptable service delivery while prioritising wellbeing for patients and carers alike. As South Australia’s first 6-Star Green Star medical facility, Playford Health Hub sets a new benchmark for sustainable, high-quality healthcare as vital social infrastructure.
Woods Bagot demonstrated an exceptional commitment to delivering Playford Health Hub Stage 2 from concept to completion. They successfully realised our vision for a flexible, patient-centered medical building capable of accommodating diverse clinical services, while achieving our 6-Star Green Star As-Built target. The design integrates seamlessly with Stage 1, strengthening the precinct identity and enhancing connectivity to the public hospital. Internally, the building delivers high-quality finishes, intuitive wayfinding and a light, welcoming environment, all delivered within budget. The inclusion of staff amenities and breakout spaces has further enhanced the building’s appeal as a workplace of choice.
