The $23 million PCYC Wagga Wagga is the largest ever development for PCYC NSW, the registered charity whose remit is to empower young people to reach their potential through Police and community partnerships.
Sports facilities in the 8,300sqm centre include four full-size multi-use sports courts in a naturally-lit 3,200sqm sports hall, overlooking Bolton Park sports fields. Community facilities include studios for martial arts, boxing, dance and yoga, a café, conference and meeting rooms, an after-school care centre and youth drop-in hub.
Referencing the farming region’s grain silos, the Centre presents as two elliptical buildings clad in zincalume steel at its urban edge. They contain gymnasium, community and staff areas, and frame a glass entry atrium which continues as an internal avenue through to the main sports hall.
A mix of innovative technologies plus passive and active sustainable design is embedded to make a meaningful contribution to a low emissions future.
This is an exciting chapter in PCYC’s strategic growth; not only is Wagga Wagga our biggest development to date, it’s an incredibly functional, sustainable and varied space that covers health and wellbeing, social resilience, and educational needs, with specifically designed spaces and programs for the community.
