Located within the heritage-listed Oakleigh State School campus, the new multipurpose hall is designed to support multi-sports while also accommodating school assemblies and performances with a centralised stage. High-level louvres and Danpalon sheeting allow natural light to flood the space, enhancing the bright and welcoming environment.
Strategically positioned, the hall creates a new entry statement to the school and draws material and colour inspiration from the heritage administration building, ensuring harmony with its surroundings. Its layout opens to both the central school spine and the oval, promoting cross-ventilation and visual connection to open green spaces. This flexibility allows large gatherings to seamlessly extend beyond the covered area.
Externally robust materials reference the school’s history, while internal timber linings and feature wall colours soften the interior, provide wayfinding cues, and celebrate the Ashgrove environment, creating a functional and visually connected community hub.
