Media summary

Located on a generous north-facing site, opening toward Phillip Island’s coastal reserves, MW House, motivated by performance-led architectural framework, aligns built form, landscape, and climate. Simple massed geometry responds to the site’s natural contours and Indigenous vegetation, strengthening ecological continuity while accommodating existing fauna and flora.

MW House is conceived as a multigenerational, ageing-in-place home, with a fully accessible ground floor supporting long-term adaptability and universal use. Functional planning prioritises clear circulation, spatial efficiency, and strong connection with context.

Sustainability is embedded through a Passivhaus-informed approach, including Evissa SIPs construction, high-performance glazing, airtightness verification, and detailed energy modelling using PHPP and NatHERS. These strategies deliver stable indoor temperatures, superior indoor air quality, and significantly reduced operational energy demand.

MW House is the result of close collaboration between architecture, structural engineering, building, and specialist consultants, ensuring technical rigour and seamless delivery. The outcome is a resilient, low-energy home delivering long-term value.

From our very first meeting with Elena, we were struck by her professionalism, calmness, warmth, and deep architectural knowledge. Elena and the Evissa team made the entire journey of designing and building our home exceptionally enjoyable. We felt listened to, supported, and represented every step of the way.

Now that the build is complete and we have moved in, we continually admire the beauty of the design—its curves, angles, and proportions; its functional floor plan and flow; its thoughtful orientation; and its clever response to the shape of our block. Our home feels welcoming, peaceful, strong, comfortable, and beautiful.
