At Moxy Sydney Airport, GROUPGSA reimagined the traditional airport hotel concept to create a dynamic, youthful, and socially engaged hospitality experience that resonates with the vibrant spirit of the Mascot precinct. Working with RF Corval Hotels, our vision blends the unmistakable character of the Moxy brand with the area’s rich industrial heritage, drawing inspiration from early 20th-century aesthetics. The design moves away from the insular nature of conventional airport hotels and designed a space that seamlessly integrates with its urban surroundings.
A multifunctional ground floor fosters social engagement with a cafe, co-working spaces and retail. Dynamic public art installations by Elliott Routledge enhance the hotel’s cultural appeal.
Sustainability is at the core, with 51 solar panels, LED lighting, rainwater harvesting, EV charging, and a plastic-free approach. The hotel also utilises recycled brickwork and salvaged vintage furniture.
The hotel is a modern, lifestyle-driven hotel catering to global travellers and digital nomads.
Moxy Sydney Airport redefines the traditional airport hotel, offering a space for both locals and travellers. The design prioritises flexibility with versatile spaces for socialising, relaxing, or meetings. A key design challenge was maximising space while maintaining openness and comfort. The hotel uses space-saving solutions like multi-functional furniture, such as boardroom tables that double as ping-pong tables, and built-in storage. The communal areas encourage social interaction while offering privacy and flexibility, catering to all guest needs.
