Sheds 3 and 4 at Lune de Sang redefine commercial architecture within a rural setting, presenting a new model of forestry infrastructure that integrates production, creative practice, education, and public engagement. Located within a 150-hectare regenerating rainforest plantation on Bundjalung country in the Byron hinterland, the project demonstrates how commercial enterprise can align with long-term environmental and cultural value.
Grounded in the idea of commerce as stewardship, the buildings position forestry operations as an active part of a broader knowledge economy. Designed for a long-term forestry cycle, the sheds are enduring infrastructure accommodating evolving modes of work and learning. Through timber production, contemporary glass art studio and office workspaces, and an intermittent education facility supporting rainforest regeneration, the project demonstrates how modest commercial architecture can catalyse environmental stewardship and cultural exchange.
