Lumière redefines the hair salon experience while reflecting the values of the buisness, transforming a functional space into a carefully crafted journey of light, material, and form. Designed by MYMYMY Architecture, the salon moves beyond conventional open-plan layouts, creating distinct zones that enhance each phase of the hair care process. Sustainability is central to the project, with recycled plastic benchtops developed in collaboration with Defy Design, steel joinery designed for disassembly, and an industry-leading recycling program integrated into the space. Lumiere is a salon that responds not only to functional demands but to the emotional and sensory needs of its users. It balances precision with warmth, ensuring every visit is an experience to be enjoyed rather than endured. Through a deeply considered approach to space, material, and sustainability, the project elevates hair care into something more—a quiet, everyday luxury, crafted to last.
Lumiere by MYMYMY Architecture demonstrates the power of interior architecture to elevate a bare shell into a refined, immersive salon experience. The design balances quiet retreat with high-functioning workplace, translating the salon’s ethos of “considered, elegant and light” into a spatial experience that elevates everyday rituals into moments of quiet luxury.
Despite its compact footprint, the salon has been considered as a series of more intimate spaces—supporting operational efficiency while guiding clients through a layered, sensory journey. MYMYMY’s deep understanding of both staff workflow and client experience is evident in the careful orchestration of lighting, providing clarity for colour work alongside softer moments of calm.
