Media summary

Giarola Architect’s additional accommodation building at Kallangur State School – is innovative building that delivers refreshing, pioneering and inclusive layouts for a growing school population, that benefit all students. This project exemplifies the school’s ethos which revolves around “a moral imperative to try and provide its students a real chance to have a happy and successful life” by acknowledging that “life opportunities are clearly linked with educational success”.

Our aspirations for this project were set out in the briefing document from department and the core design considerations consisted of the following key principles:
• Safety, security and wellbeing of the school students, staff and community;
• Inclusivity including school culture and diversity, university design and access;
• Best value for money; and
• Respecting the existing masterplan.
The architects respectfully challenged that brief, and listen to our wishes and requirements, culminating in a new building that exceeds out original vision for the projects. We’re very please tat that we’ve been able to collaborate on such a well-received addition to our school.
