Media summary

The Renaissance Centre exemplifies International Grammar School's dedication to versatile learning environments. This multi-purpose hub includes a university-style lecture theatre, meeting rooms, study areas, a dance studio, and practical back-of-house spaces. The design solves the project's biggest challenge of creating flexible, inspiring spaces within an existing structural grid and low ceilings while achieving exceptional acoustic performance. The theatre is designed for flexibility, transitioning from a traditional lecture setup to a dynamic performance space with state-of-the-art lighting and AV systems.

The outcome of several consultation workshops, the project was driven by three key aspirations: to be a forum for exchanging ideas, a gathering place for thinkers, and a platform for sharing work with the school. Envisioned as the anchor project for this part of the campus, the public domain functions as school corridors, shared with the Ultimo community, as the learning within the classrooms adds to the activation of the streetscape.
