Media summary

The Stage 2 building at Ilim College Kiewa Campus is a highly functional indoor facility capable of accommodating the entire school cohort across a range of learning, cultural, physical, and social activities. The resulting design integrates an auditorium, prayer/multipurpose room, full-sized indoor basketball court, and a commercial kitchen with canteen and indoor dining space, each supporting a key aspect of student life.

The building supports accessibility, adaptability, and student wellbeing. The gymnasium’s proximity to external courts fosters a cohesive sports precinct, supporting physical development, teamwork, and health. The multipurpose and prayer spaces cater to cultural and social dimensions of learning, while the canteen supports daily routines, nutrition, and informal gathering.

This landmark building reflects Ilim College’s broader educational vision: to provide high-quality environments that uplift students, support teaching excellence, and create a sense of community. It is a space designed not only for learning, but for belonging, connection, and growth.

The Stage 2 building has instilled a renewed sense of pride across our school community. Students and staff alike are inspired by the quality of the environment in which they work and learn.

The facility supports academic achievement, fosters community connection, and reflects the standard of modern tertiary institutions, helping our students envision a seamless transition from school to further higher education and future employment.

These spaces are used daily by our students and the wider school community.  We have hosted graduation ceremonies, professional learning sessions, parent-teacher events, exhibitions of student work, demonstrating the versatility and value of the design.
