Media summary

Located on Wadawurrung country this village of homes serves mostly ageing residents unable to access housing in the private market.  These homes allow independent living within a community and a garden and incorporate architecture which strikes the balance between care, detail and warmth, places that immediately feel like home but are also tough, replicable and viable.

Landscape is critical to the street, to resident occupation and to the environmental performance of the dwellings.  And just like the buildings, landscape had to be tough yet domestic. To the benefit of both the site and the broader ecosystem, 100% of the rainwater is either captured or falls to ground with any overflow passing through raingardens.  As the landscape progresses over time, it will increasingly absorb heat and storm-water run-off, revitalising soil and plant diversity, the site tangibly making its contribution to repair of Country.
