Grove House by Cadence & Co is a considered reimagining of a 1920s California bungalow on Sydney’s North Shore, where heritage and contemporary family living converge with quiet precision. The home’s original presence is preserved while a new second storey and generous rear living pavilion with cathedral ceilings support both collective gathering and private retreat.
Referencing the openness and informality of Southern Californian mid-century homes, the interiors wrap around a landscaped garden, pool and terrace by Adam Robinson Design, strengthening the relationship between inside and out and embedding outdoor living into daily ritual.
Architectural interventions are guided by restraint and continuity, prioritising spatial clarity, light and unified materiality. A refined palette of timber, stone and rendered surfaces reinforces cohesion throughout. Balancing respect for history with evolving family needs, Grove House offers an enduring model for residential design where scale, context and character remain central.

The reimagining of Grove House has transformed the way the family lives within the home, providing an additional storey and generous, light-filled spaces for both shared moments and private retreat. By honouring the original character and establishing a cohesive design language that unifies old and new, the residence feels both familiar and renewed.
Previously boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces have been dissolved, forging a strong connection to the transformed alfresco areas. The landscaped garden, pool and entertaining terrace now sit at the heart of daily life, creating a sense of sanctuary within an urban setting.
