Gold Coast Airport’s Departures Lounge and Retail Upgrade delivers a revitalised, passenger‑focused gateway for visitors, enhancing comfort, clarity and convenience. Led by DesignInc’s integrated architecture and interiors team, the project champions a design approach grounded in clarity, visibility and legibility, with cohesive wayfinding, reconfigured security arrangements and a refreshed departures hall.
The upgrade expands passenger circulation through retrofitted retail infrastructure, accommodating a curated mix of new and retained retail and food and beverage offerings optimised for peak travel periods. An open northern concourse, cohesive finishes and new kiosk tenancies reflect the airport’s ‘Hinterland to Coast’ interior strategy.
Enhancements include modernised seating, redesigned gate portals, improved wayfinding, and a raised polycarbonate smoke baffle that creates a lighter, more open space. Accessibility is strengthened through a new Changing Places facility. Delivered within a live terminal, the project balances innovation, operational efficiency and sustainability through reused furniture, recycled materials and increased natural light.
