Set within a highly complex heritage conservation area, this project is guided by a commitment to clarity, restraint, and spatial generosity. Organised around a series of outdoor spaces, operating as both environmental and social devices, the design prioritises light, space, landscape and connection, allowing a compact footprint to provide a rich and varied experience.Â
A clear spatial diagram underpins both the internal organisation and the external form. Articulated by the courtyards, stepped sections and varied roof forms, the resulting form is dynamic yet sensitive within its heritage context. Material restraint reinforces these principles, combining strength and solidity, with softness and warmth.
The project demonstrates how pursuing clarity and integrity of concept, has organically produced a house that is at once restrained and dynamic. One that confidently engages in its complex heritage context, while remaining true to its core principles of light, space, landscape and connection.
When I first spoke with Sky, I knew I wanted an elegant home, that was calm, enduring, and a sanctuary for our family life. Living here, I now truly understand how thoughtfully designed architecture can shape and enrich our experiences.
The living spaces perfectly cater to my family, and are so light and open, yet still intimate. I love that the gardens are the heart of the house, but mostly I love how the house is filled with light, and I love watching it change throughout the days and seasons. This is the home of my dreams.
