Media summary

The conceptual intent of Frangipani was to create more space and futureproof the living arrangements for a growing family. The existing roof pitch partially inspired the 2-storey extension of Frangipani, the new building form hints at a visual extension of the existing. From the street, the pitched roofline maintains a sense of continuity, softening the contrast between old and new.

Incorporating archways, reusing original bricks and visually matching the existing roof pitch integrates the additions into the original Spanish mission architectural style.

By retaining the floor plan of the existing house and the strategic arrangement of the new addition, each family member now has their own defined space, and common adaptable zones in both parts of the home provide options to spend time as a family and for Frangipani to evolve with the family’s changing needs.
