Media summary

Smith+Tracey’s design of the STEAM building for the Crest Education Campus represents a significant addition to their existing educational precinct. It provides a young adult environment that supports students’ transition to tertiary education, while adhering to the pillars of the project to foster connection, independence and collaboration and addressing the academic and emotional/spiritual needs of students and staff. The design complements the surrounding structures and considers the broader vision of future campus development.

Inspired by the concept of an enclosed piazza, the building creates a space for interaction and connection. The STEAM Building delivers a high-quality, visually coherent, and publicly engaged structure that supports Crest Education’s mission and provides enduring cultural and educational benefits. Smith+Tracey is proud to deliver a benchmark for the next generation of educational architecture

The STEAM Building supports our senior students’ transition into their next phase of tertiary education. The spaces have been thoughtfully designed achieving the school’s vision of integrated learning, with the art, science, and technology disciplines collaborating seamlessly. The clever use of transparent design in vocational areas fosters authentic learning by encouraging creativity and curiosity, which the school aims to nurture. The open areas have transformed the way our students and staff interact with the space, creating a hub of connection. This project has fundamentally enriched the student experience, staff collaboration, and the overall culture of Crest Education.
